The supplied USB cable with 3 ft. length is inadequate to play PS3 and charge the controller at the same time.
This 2 pack of 10ft cable addresses the shortcoming of the standard cable, seems to be more durable than a standard USB cable (cable material seems to be heavy/ballistic nylon rather than rubber).
While I was not happy with the standard cable. The price for the 2 pack is a solid value for an official Sony product (comparable to 10ft generic cables).
